What part of Aargh! don't you understand?

This website is back (I think) after 36 hours off the air. Apparently the server on which this site is hosted had some sort of massive failure, and has now been replaced and the data restored. Well, Sunday's backup restored anyway. Any updates to the site in the last few hours before the crash (about midday Monday Sydney time) are lost, but I don't recall any off hand in any case.

The big problem right at the moment is that all my cron jobs appear to have been wiped and I seem to be unable to restore them. This will affect the updating of the news and blog feeds until I can get this resolved. I am about to run a manual update, but goodness knows what will happen after that. (Update: The manual update didn't work. I'll tackle this further after some sleep.)

The bigger problem is that this has throttled my plans to get a podcast out on Monday. I'll have to re-do some of it and hopefully get it out on Wednesday. However, I have very little free time on my hands between now and Friday afternoon.

I apologise for the inconvenience, which has been totally out of my control. But, to be fair, this is trivial compared to what those poor people of New Orleans and surrounds are going through...
