The decline of the Gatorade drinks break

Submitted by Rick Eyre on January 7, 2015 - 1:41pm

Some photos from my personal archives demonstrate how the presence of the Gatorade has evolved, and ultimately deteriorated, at the drinks break of Test matches during the Australian summer. (And probably how the standards of mobile phone photography have improved.)

Victoria Bitter? No, that's just the advertising.

New South Wales defeated Victoria by an innings and 48 runs in two and a half days at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 14 February 2014. This was despite the best efforts of Glenn "The Big Show" Maxwell who scored 94 for the Vics in their first innings of 218.

Twitpic is shutting down on September 25 2014. (Update: see here.)

Before their game against Team USA in the FIBA World Cup on September 2 2014, the New Zealand men's basketball team, the Tall Blacks, did what all New Zealand national teams should do... perform the Haka.

Judging by the looks on the Americans' faces it can't be long before we see a USA equivalent... surely?

USA won the game 98-71.
