International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

March 21 has been designated by the United Nations as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. It marks the anniversary of the Sharpeville massacre in South Africa on March 21, 1960.
In Australia, March 21 has been marked under an Australian Government initiative as Harmony Day.
