Various Ashes columnists

Submitted by rickeyre on August 15, 2005 - 2:30pm

Catching up on some of my favourite writers, and how they are reporting the Ashes.

Mike Brearley is doing his customary column for the Observer on the Sunday of each Test:
Third Test (Aug 14): Power swings to the benefit of England
Second Test (Aug 7): Even Pietersen has to bow to the master
First Test (Jul 24): Giles hits target but Aussies turn screw

Dave Podmore is a gem for the Guardian every Saturday. Best thing I can do here is give you the relevant search page for all the recent Podmore columns.

Gideon Haigh is my favourite Australian cricket writer these days. He is doing daily columns for the Guardian throughout the Test series as well as a tour diary updated daily on CricInfo.

The Financial Times' subscriber-oriented website makes it difficult for freeloaders like me who are only interested in the sports pages, but here, until the link expires or disappears behind a premium tag, is Matthew Engel's latest Friday column for them.

The Telegraph is outstanding in the way it lays out archive pages for each of its columnists. The Mike Atherton page can be found at, wait for it, www.telegraph.co.uk/atherton. Also recommended: www.telegraph.co.uk/boycott.
