The federal election on May 18 2019 will be the sixteenth in which I have taken part. I have seen nine elections in Shortland (1977, 80, 83, 84, 87, 90, 93, 96, 98), four in Grayndler (2001, 04, 07, 10), one in Watson (2013) and following a boundary change, one in Reid (2016) before this one.
Nationally, I am supporting the emphatic removal of the Liberal/National government led by Scott Morrison. I am supporting the formation of government by the Australian Labor Party with Bill Shorten as Prime Minister.
I also support a significant presence of competent minor parties in the Senate thereby acting as a robust House of Review and to give strong guidance to the Government in policy direction.
In Reid, the incumbent member Craig Laundy (Liberal) is not standing for re-election. My choices for the seat of Reid, in order of preference:
1. Sam Crosby (Labor)
2. Charles Jago (Greens)
3. Rohan Laxmanalal (Animal Justice Party)
4. Fiona Martin (Liberal)
5. Keith Piper (Christian Democrats)
6. Young Lee (United Australia Party)
For the Senate in NSW, I have chosen to vote above the line. A minimum of 6 preferences must be chosen up to the maximum of 35. I have chosen to preference ten groups in this order:
1. Australian Democrats
2. Together. The Party.
4. Australian Workers Party
6. Science Party
7. The Pirate Party
8. Independents for Climate Action Now
9. Animal Justice Party
10. Affordable Housing Party
I have chosen to stop my preferences at 10, others have been excluded either because I believe either their platform has too narrow a focus or that they are simply unsuitable in my view for election.
