Twitter-assisted cricket catch-up, Part Three

Part Three of a Twitter-enabled summary of my observations of the cricketing world since Boxing Day 2009. (See also Part One and Part Two.)

January 10, 2010:

Never thought I'd say this, but I miss the #cricket one-day tri-series. 2:56 PM Jan 10th

Dangerous thoughts on a bored Sunday afternoon between Tests with the only televised cricket reserved to an evening hit-and-giggle on pay TV.

The cricket catch-up thanks to Twitter, Part Two

Part two of my annotated log of cricketing thoughts as tweeted over the summer holiday period. Some tweets have been deleted for reasons of clarity and sanity.

January 2, 2010:

#cricket I probably won't get around to blogging it, but my cricketer of the 2000s is Muttiah Muralitharan. Runner-up: Adam Gilchrist. 10:13 AM Jan 2nd

#cricket I find it hard to get used to the Sydney Test starting on January 3, not January 2 12:24 PM Jan 2nd

Why tu, que? The Twitpocalypse cometh.

It is forty-one years to the weekend since I was a petrified nine year-old, terrified that the asteroid Icarus was about to plummet into the planet Earth. Today, the day when I choof off to the Sydney Film Festival for "Wake In Fright", is the day when Twitter has been calculated to melt down.

Returning slowly to normal, and hi to the twitterati while I'm at it

As you can see, my blog is back on the air, having completed eleven incremental upgrades to bring my Drupal installation up to date. I'm doing this while my fabulous hosting provider is doing a server reallocation. Some features on my blog (including a lot of the cricket stuff that can usually be seen at the bottom of the page) is disabled until I sort out a few performance issues.

BoG updates on Twitter

For the sixth and final Test of the reciprocal Australia-South Africa dual Test series, I will be posting my daily best-on-ground (BoG) votes to Twitter, and posting a final roundup to this blog after the conclusion of the game. Suffice to say that Dale Steyn is now in the box seat.

A reminder that the Midwinter-Midwinter will be back in the Ashes of 2009 coming this July. Maybe I can be encouraged to dream up some other stupid award in the meantime...

Twittering at the cricket

Yesterday I attended the SCG for a session and a half of Day Two of the New Zealand v New South Wales tour match. To my eternal regret, it has been almost three years since I have been to a NSW game (namely, the Twenty20 game against Queensland at the NSO in January 2006), so it was my first opportunity to try out some mobile blogging at the ground. Hence, my debut on Twitter.
